BANYAN BIOMARKERS, INC’ is focused on commercializing novel biomarker in vitro diagnostic products to address unmet clinical needs associated with organ injury. Our initial diagnostic products will be used for the detection and monitoring of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Until now, no simple, point-of-care blood test existed for use by physicians in the emergency room or in the hospital to detect the presence and severity of brain trauma. Banyan research has identified unique and proprietary biomarkers present in the patient's blood following injury to the brain.  Detecting these biomarkers will provide early indications of brain trauma essential for earlier intervention and management. Banyan's other development program includes biomarker tests for other injured organs such as heart, liver and lungs.

The U.S. market for fuel ethanol, which passed 5 billion gallons in 2006, is projected to grow rapidly over the next decade to meet President Bush's goal of a 20% reduction in gasoline use by 2017. Celunol's high-yield production process is expected to offer large operating cost advantages over conventional production methods, which use corn or petroleum as feedstock, and will sharply reduce exposure to feedstock price volatility. Development work at the BDI is currently supporting Celunol's construction of a 1.4-million gallon/yr. ethanol plant near Jennings, LA, targeted for startup in early 2008. Successful completion of this demonstration-scale plant is expected to pave the way for several commercial-scale developments.Contact: Gregory Luli, 386.418.4050, gluli@celunol.com, www.celunol.com.
